Destination Wedding Planning: The Berkshires, Part One

It is no secret I specialize in sophisticated, country fêtes. So when the Berkshire Wedding Collective invited Storied Events to the Berkshire Wedding Tour, I rearranged my schedule and ensured I would be present for several days of venue touring and networking with the areas most talented professionals. To thank the Collective would not be enough, as the experience and knowledge I gained of the area during my stay offered the ability to confidently begin to expand our services to the Berkshires. I toured the area with a group of planners from Boston, New York, Newport and Connecticut. We were all very appreciative of the incredible amount time, effort and details we were graciously provided. Visit the Berkshire Wedding Collective – and enjoy the details of our trip – and follow our blog.  This is the first post of our Berkshire Wedding series.

Stockbridge, the last exit on the Mass Turnpike before you enter New York is home to the Red Lion Inn – my home for four nights visiting the Berkshires. I highly recommend this historic inn as a “home base”. So many attributes to ensure the wedding party, guests and family are delivered a charming first impression of your wedding weekend. The food and entertainment here are fabulous. I miss their breakfasts already!

Our first night in the Berkshires we were invited to Wheatleigh. Imagine a Florentine palazoo styled, private estate with 22 acres for your wedding.  Tiffany windows, rolling hills, century old trees, sculpture gardens, luxury appointed rooms and a European trained staff dedicated to ensuring warm hospitality all combine for an awe inspiring weekend wedding. Bliss. If cuisine is at the top of your list, you will be inspired by the menu and your guests are sure to claim your event is the “best wedding ever”.

Vermont Destination Wedding Planning: Catering for all Your Needs – Let’s Pretend Catering

Vermont has a wealth of talent when it comes to catering options, and Let’s Pretend Catering is one of our favorite go to event partners.  Storied Events has collaborated on events with Daniel Samson and Liane Mendez, owners of Let’s Pretend Catering, since our conception in 2006. Every event we produce together inspires creative menus, stellar customer service pre-event and during the wedding, along with an exciting melting pot of unique ideas specific to each client. Their love for food and bringing a  personal touch to each wedding are only a few reasons I love them. Read on to learn what makes them so wonderful.

The freshest ingredients. Daniel and Liane are committed to working with local farms, growers and purveyors to get the finest ingredients available. Each menu item is carefully thought out based on seasonal availability as well as cost to clients, keeping in mind budget and dietary concerns. Their flavor profiles are suitable for an experienced culinary palate to the pickiest eater.

Creativity. The positive energy, creative force and attention to detail are incredibly evident in each course, during the service aspect of the event as well as the overall look and feel of the environment. A front of house manager, typically Daniel or Liane (the owners), are on the event floor with a keen eye for perfecting the smallest detail to ensuring the entire event is executed as planned.

Staff. Here is what Daniel and Liane have to say about the Let’s Pretend Staff. We could not say it any better!

“Our staff constantly receives compliments from our clients, their guests as well as industry professionals. Their pleasant demeanor and overall attentiveness make it easy for clients to simply enjoy hosting their event. Our turnover rate is very low and we are fortunate to have had several lead service members with us for over 6 years. Each year before our summer season begins our staff, new and returning, attend a training session to review our service expectations and etiquette standards. This team building work shop allows every member of our team to be comfortable and confident heading into all of our events. We believe in a small crew with a great deal of passion to produce all of the high quality food for each event. Our team of cooks work summer after summer alongside Daniel and Liane hand making all of our food items. We have chosen these individuals for their culinary skills and diverse knowledge within the culinary field as well as their pursuit for excellence. This small core team sets a strong foundation for the success of all events.”

Warm Your Heart in this Cold Weather by Planning a Honeymoon (or vacation!)

After the last few weeks of freezing rain, ice, snow and more snow… I can only daydream of being far away under the sun with my feet buried in the sand. With so much going on at the home front, school for A (my daughter) and planning events for the summer and next winter – we are likely here for the duration of winter. But with honeymoon planning on the agenda for many couples this time of year, I wanted to share a few of my favorite sites to seek your getaway.

If your style is adventure. The Climb.

Manchu Picchu, From the Climb

Manchu Picchu, From the Climb

Big Sky Montana, Galapagos, Thailand to Yosemite.Great deals, time sensitive buys and once in a lifetime experiences. You need to sign up to access the site, but many of the deals are quality and not to be missed.

In need of pampering, experiencing a luxury touch all the way - Luxury Link.

Blue Fields Bay

Blue Fields Bay

The blue waters of the Caribbean, to the rustic villas in Italy there are amazing trips, great prices and year round vacations for relaxing and or winter adventure. Note, some of these deals have time restrictions or are for limited stays. You can ask for extended stay pricing – or get “buy now” deals. If you are in the mood to gamble, you can also bid on auction deals.

Solitude is definitely under estimated. If you like a little peace and quiet, along with the finer things in life, Luxury Retreats is a villa and vacation home site geared for the traveler with a discerning taste.

Romantic Red and all the Shades of Love

LOVEWe really cannot love RED enough. Its a true color of love. Red is great for spring, summer, winter and fall. Red is one of those colors that can be bold enough to stand alone, or pair with colors to evoke deep passion or subtle romance. Nature’s palette offers fruits, berries and of course, gorgeous flowers.

TuesdayA touch of Bermuda graced Vermont! Bright Blooms by Randi at Silver Toad and gorgeous imagery by Nancy Cohn and Lauren Ross.

Wednesday:  Lemon, butter, sunshine, mustard… take your pick. I paired my favorite shades of  yellow with tones and colors I love to see at weddings.

Thursday: Boogie Time! Elan Artists have two great showcases in New York City in February. Be sure to check them out if you are still selecting your entertainment for your reception.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I’ll be scouting out ideas and crafting over the weekend. Check out some of the ideas that might come alive on our Kids Valentines Day pinterest Board.

Yellow: Mellow or Bright We Have the Shade for You

Yellow is popping up quite a bit this summer and here are some of our favorite shades.yellowYellow can be modern and architectural, bright and pretty, deep and romantic. We also love the soft butter – utterly elegant when paired with deep navy, berry and sorbet tones. One of my very favorite combinations is butter with silver brunia, sage and perfect, pretty little blueberries popping out. YUM!
