This is one of THOSE weddings we knew would be incredibly beautiful, filled with details, emotion, incredible food and Ah-MAZING music from the moment we spoke with Bizia and Clinton. Their laid-back vibe combined with elegant grace and our shared dynamic taste in style, would provide a solid base to create this spectacular day.
All photos by by the incredibly talented team: 822 weddings. Shelburne Farms, filled with rolling hills, barns and a lake, is not only an stunning canvas for events, but also a sustainable farm with an Inn, cheese maker, educational classes and farm to table dining. Everyone, at some point in their life, should taste their Clothbound Cheddar and visit the farm.
The Inn is lovely. Quaint and charming, filled with historical romance and million dollar views of Lake Champlain.Once Clinton and Bizia decided to marry at Shelburne Farms, the details were in the works immediately. Bizia is the founder of the Etiquette School of Santa Fe. No surprise here that beauty, grace and of course, tea, would be incorporated into this day. And no wedding is complete without the Jimmy Choos. On the other side of the Inn, Clinton and his entourage were adding a bit of hip, masculine style to this wedding. The wedding party was gorgeous in shades of blue and teal. A formal nod to English weddings with the page boys and flower girls. The ceremony was held on the shores of Lake Champlain – where every couple dreams of getting married at Shelburne Farms. The processional was complete with cuteness, elegance and all the excitement that comes along with children, pets, family and of course, looming thunderstorms. Yes, I did write THUNDERSTORMS. Mother Nature had another plan for the ceremony – luckily (and as always!) we did too. So, in the middle of all the sentimental words, we moved inside and the bride had another chance to walk down the aisle. Lucky girl! Guests were treated to many surprises throughout the evening and thoughtful, stunning details filled every space of the coach barn. Cocktail hour was held in true sophisticated, farm fashion and certainly would not be complete without the petting zoo. The hour also provided an opportunity for some more stunning photos after the storms were over. Dinner. Well styled, stunning tables by The Greenery set the tone for the family style, farm to table meal served by one of Vermont’s most loved butchers – Frank Pace. Tables were named after islands and places near and dear to Clinton and Bizia. Then CAKE. And I have no words. It was just as delicious as it looked! Fans of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band…Bizia and Clinton hired Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band as the main entertainment of the night. What do we do when a client secures one of our favorite bands? We build a six foot tall, dancing grateful dead bear as the “chandelier”, aptly named “Melvin”. Guests danced the night away and enjoyed the rest of the festivities. As the rain subsided everyone was able to enjoy the glow of the courtyard, Ben and Jerry’s, tea service – by Dobra Tea House – and the sky lanterns. Muah. Blissfully happy we were part of this Vermont destination wedding.
Kudos to all the professionals that made this event happen: Shelburne Farms, Vermont Tent Company, The Greenery, Bakearia, Frank Pace Catering, Dobra Tea House, Healy Productions and a huge thank you to 822 Weddings for an incredible job.
